Professor Datuk Dr. Ahmad Yusoff bin Hassan

Born on 15 April 1956, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yusoff bin Hassan received his Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Engineering from the Worthing College of Further Education, United Kingdom (1977), Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering (B.Eng) from the University of Liverpool (1980), Master (MSc) in Metals, Materials and Management from the University of Aston in Birmingham, United Kingdom (1983) and PhD in Engineering from the University of Liverpool (1990).

He started his career as a Mechanical and Maintenance Engineer and as the Head of Central Facilities of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Main Campus, Penang in 1980. His major experiences in higher education management include as the Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, USM (1991-1999), Director of USM Engineering Campus in Perak (1997-2001) and Chief Information Officer of USM (2002-2006).

Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yusoff specialised in Mechanical Computer Aided Engineering (MCAE) CAD / CAM, FEM, Product Development Thermo-Mechanical Design of Electronic Packaging and Advanced Manufacturing. He has more than 22 years of experience in research which also includes collaborations with prestigious industry players such Motorola, Hewlett-Packard (HP), Carsem (M) Sdn Bhd, Astronautic Technology (M) Sdn Bhd and the Ministry of Defense.

Prior to his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of UTeM, Professor Datuk Dr. Ahmad Yusoff led a research in the area of Biomechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, USM.

His researches had won several awards and recognition locally and internationally. He won a gold medal at the Invention, Innovation Technology Exhibition (ITEX 2008) and the Special Award for Best Invention in Industrial Design by the Japanese Intellectual Property Association.

Professor Datuk Dr. Ahmad Yusoff was appointed the Second Vice-Chancellor of UTeM on 16 June 2008. With his extensive experience in research, he was set to make UTeM a world leading innovative and creative technical university.
